Looking to start your own diy music label? I’m no expert, but here’s some of the things I use. I have included both indie and big name companies below. Get in contact if you have any suggestions or questions for me.
CD Duplication
Heresee Baltimore, MD
Sire Press Philadelphia, PA
Any less than 25 copies, I burn myself on my computer.
CD Packaging
Recycled Sleeves from Sustainable Group Seattle, WA
More recycled sleeves from Sustainable Group
Recycled sleeves and folding Arigato! Packs from Stumptown Printers Portland, OR
Digipacks from Discmakers Online, USA
Black sleeves from Discmakers
Clear Sleeves from Discmakers
Adhesive Hubs (to be mounted in a zine, on cardstock, etc.) from Discmakers
Discmakers has many other products as well.
Inserts
I print these myself using copy machines onto cardstock, vellum, or paper. One cool idea: the one sheet, mini-8 page pocket zine.
Printing
Solarplate printing (a non-toxic etching technique that is probably more for intermediate printmakers that have access to printing equipment such as rollers or presses)
Spraypaint Stenciling (buy spraypaint. cut into cardstock/acetate. spray.)
Stickers (i have no recommendations; i have not done this yet).
Rubber stamps (this is how i do my label’s insignia; i like the aesthetic).
